Steamer deck chair

Posted in Chairs and stools, Fairfax Virginia

I always wanted to make a chair so when Norm Abrams New Yankee workshop produced plans for this deck chair, based on the design of the deck chair for the Titanic, I brought the plans.  The original was Teak – but save the rain forest – I used some 2 inches thick red oak from Southern Virginia.  Other than that modification, I did the rare thing and basically stuck to the plans instead of the normal design as you build.

Now I have the ability to arrange the deck chair on the Titanic.  If you would like one and not having a custom built piece is not paramount – go buy a commercially available one itis about 1/3 the price of what this one would cost you.
